Visitor's talk: Zahira Asmal on inclusive city making

On Friday 16 June our guest Zahira Asmal presents her project See in Cape Town
Date(s)

See is a project that deals with the equal representation and memorialisation of the heritage, cultures and identities of Cape Town. How could the city be re-imagined?

Zahira Asmal (South Africa) is director of The City, based in Cape Town. She edited and produced three publications of The City called Movement, that look at the social, spatial, political, economic and cultural movements that have created South Africa’s big cities. Zahira Asmal has lectured around the world on design, architecture and inclusive city making.

Our guest worked with architect Sir David Adjaye on his book African Metropolitan Architecture and the exhibition Urban Africa. In Johannesburg, she initiated a place-making project working with the City of Johannesburg, the Passenger Rail Association of South Africa and Sir David Adjaye, based at Johannesburg’s prominent Park Station.
