Laurens Meijer - Advisor Mobility Info Point

My name is Laurens and I joined DutchCulture’s Mobility Info Point in 2021. Mobility Information Points (MIP) are information centres in several European countries, and one in the USA, who aim to tackle administrative challenges that artists and cultural professionals can face when working across borders.

As an advisor I answer questions regarding visas, residence permits, funding possibilities, social security, taxation, customs, etc. Feel free to contact me if you are looking to start working internationally, but are unsure where to start.

Previously I studied Art History and Law (specializing in modern- and contemporary art, immigration law and fundamental rights) at the University of Amsterdam. During my studies I worked as a cultural programmer for a museum in Amsterdam. After graduating I worked for three years as a paralegal at law firms specialized in the field of immigration law assisting with applications for residence permits.

In my spare time I am working on a PhD at the Amsterdam School for Heritage, Memory and Material Culture, researching on how practices of law intersect with art.
