Open call: Graz City Writer 2023/2024

Graz City Writer is a literary scholarship that invites international authors to Graz for a period of one year. The chosen candidate develops a personal view of the city from an outsider's perspective and dedicates themselves to their literary development. The fellowship has a duration from September 2023 to August 2024.

The scholarship provides a free apartment in the historic Cerrini-Schlössl on the Schloßberg Graz in the middle of the city as well as a monthly allowance of €1300. The candidate works on an announced literary project during their stay.

The residency is well known in the international literary scene and is accordingly widely recognised. In 2022 there were a total of 59 applications from 21 countries. The 2022/2023 scholarship went to Abdelaziz Baraka Sakin, who was born in Sudan in 1963. He is considered one of the most important voices of Arabic-language literature in the European diaspora.
