Estrela Nova is an organization, founded by and in function of the habitants of Campo Limpo, poor area in São Paulo, to help solve problems of poverty in this region. Initially, Estrela Nova was focused on health and education, but over the years it has grown into a larger project. The biggest problems which people from Campo Limpo face are unemployment, life on the streets and criminality. Estrela Nova helps prevent these problems in different ways. The organization consists of a children daycare up to three years old, and offers an after school program for children from the age of six. During the day, these children are offered a range of classes that focus on education, sports, arts and relaxation. This way, Estrela Nova helps these children to stay off the streets, and help them grow mentally and intellectually. Besides this, Estrela Nova also offers a training to help youngsters till the age of 21 prepare for their professional lives.

For adults are offered free courses, like a computer course or an English course, and they can leave their children in daycare. This helps them to be able to go job hunting, or to go to work. During the years, Estrela Nova has proven to be successful with these projects.
