New Album Baifang is to be released on February 7th

Straight from the steppes of Mongolia, by way of Beijing, Hanggai comes running into the arms of Harlem Recordings. Their third album Baifang will be released all over Europe on February 7th through the Holland-based record label. After a busy 2012 tour schedule that brought Hanggai to Europe, Japan, Taiwan, Australia, the US and Canada they started working on their new album. May 2013 saw them recording in various studio’s in Beijing, again with producer JB Meijers. The first video for Hong Galou is already online on YouTube.

Formed in 2004 when Ilchi and fomer band mate Xu Jingcheng re-discovered the beauty of traditional Mongolian music, Hanggai has gained widespread and worldwide fame with their crossover music.

From 2009 onward, Hanggai played some of the best international festivals in the world, including Roskilde, Lowlands, Fuji Rock, the Chicago World Music Festival, Sziget,  Wacken open air (Europe’s largest metal festival), FMM festival, Sydney festival, Bonnarroo and Womad festivals in Abu Dhabi, UK, Gran Canarias, Australia and New Zealand, The tours took them to five continents and in June 2013 the band performed in Africa adding the sixth continent to their list.

Raging like Djengis Khan’s elite horde, Hanggai spreads the gospel of traditional Mongolian music accross the globe, arriving in Europe in February 2014.
