Rencontre Artistique at the KunstRAI: Focus Morocco
Rencontre Artistique at the KunstRAI: Focus Morocco
On May 4, KunstRAI and DutchCulture will organise an afternoon with a visit to the work of several Moroccan galleries of this year's Focus Morocco at the KunstRAI fair, followed by a panel discussion about contemporary Moroccan visual art. Participants in the panel will be, among others, Abdelkader Benali (writer and visual arts curator), Mehdi Qotbi (artist and president of the Fondation Nationale des Musées du Maroc), and gallerists and artists from the Moroccan galleries. Moderation: Myriam Sahraoui, Country Advisor Morocco at DutchCulture.
Over the past 12 years, the KunstRAI has profiled itself as a national fair for contemporary autonomous and applied art. In addition, every year a number of galleries from a specific foreign city or country are invited to jointly present themselves at the KunstRAI in order to introduce the Dutch public to the art and culture of the country in question and to establish and strengthen mutual contacts between the participating galleries. In recent years, the focus has been on Berlin, Antwerp, Barcelona and Japan, among others.
This year, Morocco was chosen as the focus country. The organisation is supported by the Dutch Embassy in Rabat, the Moroccan Embassy in The Hague, the Fondation Nationale des Musées du Maroc, the culture department of the municipality of Amsterdam and DutchCulture. The KunstRAI 2023 will take place from 3 to 7 May in the RAI in Amsterdam.
Entrance to the Rencontre Artistique is free of charge (including access to the KunstRAI), only on subscription via KunstRAI.
