Beşiktaş Kültür Merkezi (Beşiktaş Culture Center) was established on November 11, 1994, when Yılmaz Erdoğan and Necati Akpınar converted the “Mıstık Movie Theater”, located in Beşiktaş, into a theater hall. Announcing its opening with the Sertab Erener “Lal” concert, hosting 800 viewers, BKM said “Curtains up!” on February 24, 1995, with “Otogargara”, which was to be staged 463 times from then on.

Presently staging numerous different plays and shows, which have all become classics - reaching hundreds of thousands in audience figures, BKM Theater has also marked its name under concerts, uniting renowned local and international artists with audiences, through BKM Organization. Initiated with Bir Demet Tiyatro smashing all ratings records, BKM continued its TV journey with many successful series and record breaking TV shows like Çok Güzel Hareketler Bunlar and Güldür Güldür.

As its events and TV projects, the theater also reached millions of viewers with its motion pictures. BKM Film embarked on its motion picture journey in the year 2000 with its blockbuster first feature film “Vizontele”. Carving out a significant niche for itself with above 50 million viewers in 15 years, BKM signed its name under the production of over 40 features throughout the years. The 2013 make “Kelebeğin Rüyası – The Butterfly’s Dream” represented Turkey at the 86th Academy Awards in the Best Foreign Language Film Category, while returning with awards from many national and international film festivals. Numerous other features produced by BKM were also screened at international festivals, receiving significant awards.

BKM, transmitting the pleasure of theater to the youth through a master-apprentice culture at BKM Mutfak and expanding the borders of its white screen journey initiated with “Bir Demet Tiyatro”, recognized as a TV legend, continues to touch our lives in all domains related to culture on its path that started off in Beşiktaş.
