The School of Histories, Languages and Cultures explores what is means to live in the world today, investigating the past and examining how we express our current condition. The School of Histories, Languages and Cultures is part of the Faculty of Arts, Cultures and Education.

The School aims to develop influential research and deepen understanding of a truly multicultural environment - while being firmly rooted in the City of Hull. With a rich heritage as a major port and a gateway to Europe, Hull is a fascinating cultural, linguistic and historical case study, as well as having a wealth of resources including, the Wilberforce Institute, Maritime Historical Studies Centre, Hull History Centre, the Shoosmith Language Learning Centre and many more.
