Dutch music exports continue to grow

For the eighth consecutive year, the export of Dutch music has increased. In the field of dance, the Netherlands continues to rank highly.

The data on international performances and earnings of Dutch artists is collected by the research company, Perfect & More, for Buma Cultuur. Nearly 80% of foreign income is based on performances, particularly as a result of DJs being are constantly on the move. For them, North America has become the main destination, with Las Vegas as a permanent venue for dance performances from the Netherlands.

Outside of dance, Andre Rieu and his orchestra remains an important export product. In 2012, 957 Dutch acts were more or less active abroad. The top three countries where the most performances occurred were: 1. USA, 2. Germany, 3. Spain, followed by Britain, France, Belgium and Canada. The figures for 2012 were announced at Eurosonic Noorderslag.
