Export value of Dutch pop music in recovery after pandemic

Buma Cultuur reports gradual recovery of Dutch pop music's export value after corona pandemic.
By Eline Bingen

The export value of Dutch pop music rose by 231% over 2022 compared to 2021, Buma Cultuur reports. This increase can be explained by the reopening of the international market after the outbreak of the corona pandemic. Our Dutch DJs saw the most commercial success. With 104 performances abroad, Martin Garrix takes the crown. He is closely followed by DJ Tiësto (102 performances) and Joris Voorn (90 performances).

Director of Buma Cultuur, Frank Helmink, is realistic about the most recent figures: "Of course, growth of more than 230 percent is wonderful, but the industry was also very deep. We are now at the level of about ten years ago so there is still a lot of catching up to do. That's going to happen presumably, but you also shouldn't close your eyes to the tensions in the world that also have repercussions."
