In the summer of 2012, Guido arrives with his wife Nurnaz and son Batuhan in Istanbul. His wife's work made them come to istanbul and they are planning to stay for one year. He had plenty of time to dedicate himself to exploring and discovering istanbul. First his house, then neighborhood where he lived, and slowly stretched out to the edges of the vast, rapidly growing city of Istanbul. On his wanderings, he tells stories about the past and present of the city: about tramps and millionaires, writers and artists, Istanbulhaters and Istanbullovers. Seeking the true face of the most beautiful city in the world.
Guido Snel, a writer and translator, lectures in the Slavic department at the University of Amsterdam.
