Quaco. Life in slavery (comic book)
'Quaco. Leven in slavernij' (Quaco. Life in slavery') is the first big comic book on the Dutch history of slavery. The main character, Quaco, is based on a real person. He was an Akan who came from the area that would now be situated in Ghana or the Ivory Coast. After his abduction, he first lived in slavery in West-Africa, then in Suriname and the Netherlands. Quaco was one of the millions of Africans that were enslaved during the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade, in which the Dutch were also involved.
