Dutch cultural professionals visit Brazil

DutchCulture organizes a working visit to Brazil for ten Dutch professionals from the arts education and creative industries from 8-12 September 2014. The working visit takes place under the direction of Marjan Hammersma, the Director-General Culture and Media of the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. The Dutch embassy and consulates in Brazil as well as Het Nieuwe Instituut (The New Institute) are also involved in the organization of the visit.

Round table sessions

An important part of the visit are round table sessions on arts education and the creative industries. The sessions take place in collaboration with local partners in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. Het Nieuwe Instituut co-organizes the round table on the creative industries. During the sessions the Dutch organizations enter into dialogue with their Brazilian counterparts. The aim is to exchange knowledge alongside exploring opportunities for cooperation. Participating organizations from the Netherlands include the Design Academy Eindhoven, BNO (the Association of Dutch Designers), the Dutch Game Association and the Reinwardt Academy (for heritage professionals and museology).

Cultural relations between the Netherlands and Brazil

With the working visit DutchCulture contributes to the intensification of cultural relations between the Netherlands and Brazil. Working visits to both countries play a significant role in these relations. DutchCulture annually invites a number of Brazilians of the cultural sector to the Netherlands to participate in the International Visitors’ Programme.
