In the spotlight: six interesting projects supported by Creative Europe
The Creative Europe Desk plays an advisory role on the Creative Europe programmes for MEDIA and CULTURE and provides assistance in grant-seeking. Many striking and interesting projects receive support from the European Commission annually through these programmes. To give an insight into the awarded European projects, we have made a set of short videos in which the different projects are highlighted. Here’s an overview:
Performance(s) Between Two Shores (Dancing on the Edge)
Performance(s) Between Two Shores is developed with Arabic artists residing in Europe in a cooperation between several renowned European cultural orgnanisations. The project lasts a year and a half and receives €195.803 from the call for Support for European Cooperation within the CULTURE sub-programme of Creative Europe. This project is the product of collaboration between no less than seven countries: the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Egypt, the United Kingdom and Sweden.
Heirs of the Night (Lemming Film)
On October 2018, the European Commission published the results of the regulation Support for Television Productions. In sum, 24 European projects were selected, among which the new vampire series Heirs of the Night, produced by Dutch producers Lemming Film, who received a €500.000 grant. It’s the first time since the inception of Creative Europe MEDIA that a Dutch drama project has been awarded support through this regulation. The language spoken in the series is English and actors have been casted from eight different countries.
Mind Ur Step (Roots & Routes)
This two-year collaboration receives €196.253 euro from the subsidy regulation for call for Support for European Cooperation within the CULTURE programme. The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and France are participating countries. Mind ur Step is am initative launched by ROOTS & ROUTES Netherlands in co-production with Maas Theatre and Dance (NL), Racines Carrées (FR), ROOTS & ROUTES Cologne (DE). Jointly, they put together a coaching programme for eleven professional urban dancers who are ready for a next step in their careers.
Cinekid for Professionals
Cinekid for Professionals receives €250.000 euro from the call Access to Markets within the MEDIA programme and takes place during Cinekid, the world’s biggest media festival for children. Hundreds of professionals will engage with television, transmedia storytelling, digital arts and media literacy for kids. To encourage the production of youth media, Cinekid created a comprehensive programme for both national and international professionals that quickly claimed a firm foothold in the festival.
CELA (De Nieuwe Oost | Wintertuin)
CELA means Connecting Emerging Literary Artists. The two-year project receives €557.099 euro from the call for Support for European Cooperation within the CULTURE subprogramme. There are six participating countries: the Netherlands, Belgium, Portugal, Romania, Italy and Spain. A selection of eighteen authors, 24 translators, six starting literary professionals and seven participating literary organisations will follow an intensive trajectory aimed at developing skills and networks.
