DutchCulture | Buitengaats: Manifesta 10

DutchCulture gathers data on international cultural activities from the Netherlands in all creative disciplines. This week's highlight: Manifesta 10

Manifesta was conceived in the early 1990s as a nomadic, European biennial of contemporary art, responding to the new social, cultural and political reality that emerged in the aftermath of the Cold War.

2014 marks the twentieth anniversary of Manifesta. Its jubilee edition will be hosted by the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia and will run from June 28 until October 31, 2014.

The main objective of Manifesta 10 is to introduce contemporary art, with all its complexity and criticality, to the State Hermitage Museum. The main exhibition will take place at the Winter Palace and the recently renovated General Staff Building of the State Hermitage Museum, with various satellite events being held at different locations around the city.

The following artists from the Netherlands are included in the programme: Lado Darakhvelidze, Rineke Dijkstra, Marlene Dumas and Erik van Lieshout.
