New Generations meet-up - October 1

New Generations: DutchCulture is inspired by young artists and creatives and eager to support their international ambitions.
Date(s)
Friday 1 October 2021 15:00 - 17:00

To all NL-based young makers, DutchCulture offers the chance to connect with peers from different disciplines in the cultural and creative sector - from filmmakers to slam poets, from digital artists to dancers. Together, we will discuss the challenges and opportunities of working internationally experienced by this new generation of emerging artists.

DutchCulture aims to learn from a new generation of dream chasers, because they have - perhaps more than ever - the drive and ambition to realize meaningful cultural exchange. We will discuss the social and societal themes that are reflected in their work and we take a curious stance towards what drives this generation to work internationally.

The event will be kick-started with a short conversation between artists of various disciplines, and in various stages in their careers. Read the short introductions below to get to know them better:

Loradeniz (1991) is an Istanbul-born and raised, Amsterdam-based music artist with an authentic heart and a true raver’s spirit. She flexes her triple-threat skills as a pianist, producer, and DJ with a master in sound design & a bachelor in music production as a technical foundation as well as her studies in the conservatory in classical piano. Loradeniz started to look for her own sound when she settled In Amsterdam after finishing her studies in music. Being a long-time music digger and having a background in classical music to composing contemporary music, scoring for screen to singing, she separates herself from many others.

Esmay Wagemans (1992) is a science fiction artist who sees the human as a creature of social reality as well as a creature of fiction. She reflects on the digitization and technologization of society by providing a feminine point of view on what these developments mean for the future human body. By focusing on- and exploring the process of material, she is forever in search of creating new human shapes. She designed work for Cardi B, Sevdaliza and Solange and is based in Amsterdam.

Lemuël de Graav (1998) is a writer, filmmaker and artist. Through his work in storytelling, Lemuël tries to seek connection, and offer the possibility of feeling and make room for understanding.
