Funding for international collaborations in the field of cultural heritage

The Mondriaan Fund is one of the 6 national cultural funds, and supports and promotes the visual arts and cultural heritage in the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

The grant for International Collaborative Projects with Heritage Institutes is intended for cultural heritage institutions from the Netherlands and the Caribbean part of the Kingdom that collaborate with foreign cultural heritage institutions in research projects in fields covered by both of their collections. The grant may also be requested for the development phase of the project, for example to pay for the travel and accommodation expenses incurred by researchers and curators, and towards the costs of presenting the study results in the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The objective is to promote new insights, research and international collaborations in the field of cultural heritage whose importance will draw international attention and which will result in a presentation.

Requirements

Applicants

  • should be an insitution managing cultural heritage of national significance outside the Kingdom of the Netherlands;
  • must have entered into a partnership with similar cultural heritage institutions abroad that take a share of the project costs in acceptable proportion to the grant awarded by the Mondriaan Fund;
  • should propose a research project shown off by both the Dutch institution and its international partner/s;
  • will be assesed based on the following criteria:
    • The significance and quality of the (research) plan;
    • The significance of the involved institution/s;
    • The significance of the presentation plan.
