The Supporting Act Foundation: Artist Grant

Funding to support emerging artists from underrepresented groups, allowing them to dedicate more time to their art

The Supporting Act Foundation is a self-governing non-profit created to foster diversity and build better opportunities for underrepresented groups in the arts. They support emerging artists and arts-focused nonprofits, giving them the space and resources to develop their work and drive positive change in their communities.

The Artist Grant is designed to help emerging artists from underrepresented groups whose practices involve some form of collaborative, collective, or creative process that benefits their community. Through this grant program they aim to improve living conditions for artists, enabling them to dedicate more time to developing their practices. This may include travel abroad if it directly supports the artist's artistic growth.

Artists who identify as an emerging artist, belonging to one or more underrepresented groups, or as someone facing systematic barriers to equal opportunities in the arts.

There are no restrictions on how the grant is spent, though it's intended to help cover living costs and expenses related to artistic development.

How much

Each grant provides €10.000, paid in monthly installments of €1.000. A total of ten grants are available.

Requirements

Artist must have:

  • Have 2–10 years of professional experience and a minimum age of 21 years;
  • Have a practice involving collaborative or community-focused creative processes;
  • Be based in Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, or the UK, with an IBAN bank account in one of these countries;
  • Be born in or before 2005;
  • Have an updated website or public social media profile where your artistic works are publicly shared.
  • Clearly outline how you intend to use the grant, and explain the specific ways it will support your artistic development.
  • Be able to demonstrate how the grant will support you in overcoming economic, social, cultural, physical and health-related barriers that would otherwise prevent you from progressing your career.
  • Be willing to demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to being a positive ambassador for the growing TSAF Grantee Network.
