24 March: live event - Rising from the ashes: recreating the National Museum of Brazil

What can we learn from a museum that was hit by a devastating fire?

Two hundred years after it was founded, Brazil's oldest and most important historical and scientific museum was hit by a devastating fire in 2018. The National Museum in Rio de Janeiro lost a significant part of its collection. How did they deal with such unexpected circumstances? And what can we learn from their experiences?

Thursday 24 March 2022, museum director Alexander Kellner will give a keynote about his experience at the museum. He will share with us a story of perseverance and resistance to keep Latin America’s biggest national and cultural history museum alive for future generations.
