[Expertmeeting] Brazil Heritage Update
IPHAN is the National Institute for Historic and Artistic Heritage in Brazil. Its president, Ms. Jurema de Sousa Machado is visiting the Netherlands in the framework of our international visitors' programme for heritage. She will be joined by two colleagues, Ms. Érica Cristina Castilho Diogo and Ms. Sandra Rafaela Magalhães Corrêa, respectively coordinator-general and coordinator at the Department of Material Heritage and Inspection.
During the public expertmeeting on 14 April, Ms. De Sousa Machado will give a keynote on the work of IPHAN, the strong cooperation between Brazil and the Netherlands, and recent challenges met in Brazil with the preservation and reuse of historic buildings in its ever-developing megacities.
After the keynote a panel discusses several case studies related to Brazilian heritage. Panelists are Érica Cristina Castilho Diogo and Sandra Rafaela Magalhães Corrêa (IPHAN), Jean-Paul Corten (Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands), Jaap Klaarenbeek (urbanist and project leader at Posad) and Ineke Holtwijk (writer and former correspondent in Brazil).
