Momix Festival 2022: The Netherlands represented in Kingersheim, France
Festival Momix has been a major annual event for live performances aimed at young audiences in France for several years. Every year, the festival - located in Kingersheim - invites about thirty companies from France and abroad including a variety of disciplines of circus, dance, theatre, puppetry and music. This year, under the leading theme of ‘imagination’, six Dutch shows and an exhibition of illustrations are invited to take part in the ‘Momix Netherlands’ programme. The festival also invites companies from, for instance, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Peru and Quebec.
The festival argues the following about the Netherlands, ‘A small country in size, but a great country of inventiveness in the field of live performance!’ ‘Momix Netherlands’ allows Dutch companies to shine the spotlight on spectators and professionals outside their place of origin to strengthen their openness to international artistic practices. The work of Dutch (music) theatre companies Lejo, De Dansers, Monki Business, Bot, de Stilte and Dadodans are showcased at the festival. Furthermore, illustrations of the Dutch artist Eline van Dam – who also made the festival's poster – will be displayed in the exhibition Zeelot. In addition to the six shows and exhibition, several panels for meetings and discussions will also be offered. ‘Momix Netherlands’ is supported by the Performing Arts Fund NL.
