Karsu is a Turkish young pianist born in the Netherlands. A documentary film is made for her, she gives concerts on the most important stages of the world, her album stays at the top of the Dutch jazz charts for a long time... We have hosted her for the first time in the last year’s festival and after the great deal of attention she has attracted, she is preparing to meet a wider audience this year. Creating her own style by blending jazz, soul and funk with Turkish music, Karsu is going to render beloved Turkish songs besides her own compositions at this concert. We are impatient to watch the sincere and energetic stage performance of Karsu again.

Karsu, who started playing the piano at the age of 7, is an outstanding pianist, a strong vocal, composer, song writer and arranger. She gave three concerts at one of the most important stages of the world, New York Carnegie Hall and two concerts in North Sea Jazz Festival, where she was warmly applauded. The life story of Karsu, who is only 24 years old, became the subject of the documentary film “Karsu: I Hide A Secret”, which was filmed for 5 years. Her debut album Confession was released in the Netherlands in 2012 and in Turkey this year. Karsu gains appreciation also with her music video that draws attention to drying up of Burdur lake.
