Cultural cooperation with India

India is a priority country in Dutch international cultural policy, and funds are available to support cultural cooperation between India and the Netherlands. Focus areas are design, performing arts and cultural heritage, visual arts, cinematography and literature.

15:00 - Introduction by Wicher Slagter and Meenakshi Mahajan from the Netherlands Embassy in India on opportunities for cultural cooperation and the Indian cultural landscape.

Presentations by:

• Jos Gommans - Leiden University, on Dutch cultural heritage in India, the Cosmos Malabaricus project and heritage cooperation;
• Henny Dörr - HKU (University of the Arts Utrecht), on the state of design and experiences and prospects for cooperation in design in India;
• Heiko Dijker - musician, on his experiences of 25 years of collaborating with Indian artists, organisers and audiences.
