Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra on tour in Brazil

Date(s)
-

The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra (RCO) concludes the season with a tour through South America. In Brazil the orchestra and its chief conductor Mariss Jansons will be making appearances in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

In São Paulo, the RCO will be performing at the Sala São Paulo but will also be giving an open-air concert as it did back in 1994. It was a special experience both for the orchestra and for the audience, which swelled to over 200,000 people. Rio de Janeiro’s Theatro Municipal is one of Brazil’s most renowned and beautiful halls, and was inspired by the Paris Opera.

In 2013, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra celebrates 125 years of outstanding musicianship with numerous musical performances for audiences all over the globe. The RCO embarks on a world tour in 2013, visiting six continents in a single year – the very first orchestra ever to do so: Europe, North and South America, Asia, Africa and Australia.
