Instituto Buena Bista X Amarte Fund: Back to Your Hood
Instituto Buena Bista (IBB) and the Amarte Fund introduce the open call for the art project Back to Your Hood. This open call is aimed at artists with roots in Curaçao, regardless of whether they currently reside in Curaçao or abroad. The goal is to utilize the creative talent of artists for the benefit of their original neighborhoods.
IBB x Amarte are looking for proposals for site- and community specific designs. These could include sculptures, architectural interventions, reliefs, digital applications, or community theater performances, as well as a series of performances (e.g., poetry readings, musical performances, community radio shows, sound installations, etc.).
Instituto Buena Bista (IBB) was founded in 2006 by Tirzo Martha and David Bade. It is a leading art center in Curaçao, focusing on art education and creative development. IBB welcomes international artists, provides opportunities for young talent to grow, and strengthens the community through art projects that connect directly with society.
The Amarte Foundation was founded in 2019 by a number of families that share a deep love for the arts. Together they decided to offer financial means to innovative artists and support projects in music, theatre, film, visual arts, and literature. Amarte would like to serve as a springboard for artists, which is why we offer both development grants and project grants to realize relatively small scale projects.
Artists and creatives with roots in Curaçao, regardless of whether they currently reside in Curaçao or abroad, who work across various disciplines. Both established names and emerging talents without prior project experience are encouraged to submit proposals. Ideal candidates are makers who are either already engaged with the community or willing to step outside their usual working methods to do so.
Artists can receive support from IBB in engaging with the neighborhood and building networks. When beneficial and appropriate, IBB students may also participate. Additionally, IBB offers assistance in project development, education, and marketing.
A project budget of €10.000 per artist:
- €4.000 for fees
- €6.000 for production costs and sustainable materials.
The submission deadline is February 17, 2025, 23:59 (AST) for applicants in Curaçao and February 18, 2025, 04:59 (CET) for applicants in the Netherlands.
