Funding for international work visits in anticipation of a heritage project

/// We are currently not accepting applications for the travel expense program due to limited funding. Please check back later for updates ///

International Heritage Cooperation is part of the Netherlands’ international cultural policy. The Dutch Ministries of Foreign Affairs (BZ) and of Education, Culture and Science (OCW) have formulated this policy for the period 2021 – 2024.

The program has five implementing organisations: DutchCulture, the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (RCE), the National Archives (NA), the Dutch Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage (KIEN), and the Dutch embassies and/or consulates-general in the respective partner and focus countries.

The aim of the travel expense scheme is to strengthen project proposals for International Heritage Cooperation, specifically those centered around the shared heritage or historical connections between the Kingdom of the Netherlands and partner and/or focus countries. The partner countries are Australia, Brazil, India, Indonesia, Japan, Russia*, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Suriname, Ukraine and the United States. The eligible focus countries are China, Egypt, Morocco and South Korea. This initiative assists heritage experts in initiating projects by facilitating travel to meet potential collaborators and experts, and to gain firsthand insights into the local context.

*For cooperation with Russia, DutchCulture follows the Dutch government's declaration of solidarity for Ukraine and principles of cultural cooperation with the Russian Federation and Belarus.
