National Maritime Museum in Amsterdam

The National Maritime Museum shows how our culture has been shaped by the sea. Stimulating, interactive exhibitions allow visitors to explore 500 years of maritime history. The museums collection holds more than 400.000 objects that are divided into the collections cartography, navigation, ship models, and paintings, and there also is a scientific library. All these objects together give a look into Dutch maritime history. The museum tells the story of the sea with themes like colonies, migration, slavery, Amsterdam as harbour city and the interaction between different cultures.
