SnapIstanbul, Countdown and Rotterdam in Istanbul

PERFORM2012 is an independent coalition among three cultural managers –Burcu Barakacı, Pelin Başaran and Eylem Ertürk– in the local cultural scene of Istanbul.

PERFORM2012 project aims to promote various levels of collaboration between different groups of artists and audience, cultural organizations and institutions of different scales, different features and dynamics of cities and communities by building and organizing bilateral performing arts activities in the Netherlands and Turkey within the program:

SnapIstanbul is a day-long event featuring contemporary performances, short-movie screenings and concert specially curated by PERFORM2012 for Rotterdamse Schouwburg. It is an opportunity to see the works of the most innovative and exciting young artists inspiring from or working in Istanbul.

In Countdown 4 performers challenge each other to confess their deepest secrets. Who has the biggest secrets and who has the most stamina? Time and again, they confess in order to shake off the past, to ask us for forgiveness, to make a new start. Or that’s how it appears. Countdown is an intimate performance between hope and shame, reality and fiction.

Rotterdam and Istanbul have a longlasting relationship if it comes to exchange and inspiration on contemporary performing arts.  This year Rotterdam in Istanbul is back with a selection of the most inspiring and innovating choreographers of the Dutch dance scene. Contemporary and innovating dance has a strong base in the Netherlands because of the quality of dance education and circuits.
