Contemporary theater texts from Brazil

Dutch playwrights Lot Vekemans and Jibbe Willems have been to Rio de Janeiro for an exchange. Now it’s time for a return visit to the Netherlands from their Brazilian colleagues. The Brazilian playwrights Newton Moreno and Rodrigo de Roure will attend a theatrical reading of four of their translated plays during an evening in Theater Bellevue in Amsterdam.

This reading takes place in the framework of  the Netherlands Brazil X 2012. This project  was initiated and coordinated by Fabian de Freitas, in collaboration with Central de Cultura and the Theater Instituur Netherlands.

Lot Vekemans (Oss, 1965) is a Dutch playwright. Her work has been performed by Het Zuidelijk Toneel and youth theatre companies like Artemis and Kwatta.

Jibbe Willems (Arnhem, 1977) is a playwright and translator. He wrote plays for Bellevue Lunch Theatre, Theatre Echo and Generale Oost.
