Teatro Munganga: 'Orixás and the treasure chest of origin'
Teatro Munganga presents musical myths from Brazil in the theatre play 'Orixás en de schatkist van de oorsprong' (translated: Orixás and the treasure chest of origin); a performance full of Afro-Brazilian dance and music. As a baby João was adopted by a Dutch couple. João is originally from Brazil but never been really interested in his roots. Until his parents give him a treasure chest. The content of this treasure chest will lead him on a journey to the fantastic world of the Orixás in Brazil. Orixá culture came to Brazil in the days of slavery and strongly influenced the Afro-Brazilian religion Candombé that emerged in that same period in Brazil.
