On 20 April 2023 DutchCulture organised a workshop on how to apply for a US artist visa, avoid unnecessary problems and costs, getting visa in time and have more control over the visa application. You can stream the whole workshop here.

For performing artists, touring in the United States can be enormously rewarding. But getting into the US can be a less inspiring and a very costly process. Especially, if the US' proposed rule with increased application fees, will be approved.

Are you a performing artist, actor, musician, dancer, agent or manager in the Netherlands with future plans or ambitions to perform in the US? Would you like to know more about what it takes to pass the border? Then please join us for this workshop with Brian Zabinski, senior Case Manager with Covey Law, and a volunteer with Tamizdat, a non-profit organisation based in New York committed to research, education, and advocacy to address visa issues for artists travelling to the US.

In addition to a detailed explanation of the US artist visa process, the session will debunk pervasive myths, provide detailed strategies for avoiding unnecessary problems and costs, explain how to get your visa in time, and outline ways to have more control over your visa application.

Brian Zabinski has been helping performing artists navigate the work visa process since 2012, with expertise in O- and P-visa applications. He is a senior case manager with Covey Law, and a volunteer with Tamizdat, a non-profit organisation based in New York committed to research, education, and advocacy to address visa issues for artists travelling to the US. Zabinski has coordinated informational sessions and given presentations on arts immigration and artist mobility issues at the Going Global Music Summit (NZ), BIGSOUND (AU), and Nova Scotia Music Week (CA).

Tamizdat is a non-profit organisation that facilitates and advocates for international cultural mobility and exchange. Driven by the conviction that global mobility and exchange of culture are fundamental to a healthy and progressive civil society, Tamizdat seeks through its programme activities to assist the international performing arts community in addressing problems presented by international borders, and U.S. immigration policy and procedure. Like DutchCulture, Tamizdat is a member of On the Move, an international network for cultural mobility.
