International visitors: museum delegation South Africa

From 13 to 17 February 2017, a museum delegation from South Africa is visiting the Netherlands.

The South African museum delegation consists of Ms Veliswa Baduza (CEO of SAHRA, South African Resources Agency), Mr Bongani Ndhlovu (deputy CEO of Iziko Museums), Ms Nikiwe Momoti (director of Provincial Archive Service of Western Cape Government), Ms Catherine Snel (former president of SAMA, South Africa Museums Association), Ms Vicky Heunis (collection manager at War Museum, Bloemfontein) and Mr Matlotleng Matlou (deputy chairperson of council, Ditsong Museums of South Africa).

The central themes of the visit are collection management, exchanges between South African and Dutch museums, capacity building and the narrative(s) of the shared past of South Africa and the Netherlands. The visit is organized by the Rijksmuseum, the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands and DutchCulture.

The delegation will visit the new exhibition 'Good Hope. South Africa and the Netherlands from 1600' at the Rijksmuseum, as well as the Reinwardt Academy, Zuid-Afrikahuis, Thami Mnyele Award Foundation and National Archives, among others.

On Wednesday 15 February, from 15:00 to 17:00 hrs, the visitors discuss narratives of the shared past of South Africa and the Netherlands at Ateliergebouw Rijksmuseum. You are welcome to attend this free event. To register and for more information, please click here.
