How can urban culture and creativity be a driver of social impact? Pakhuis de Zwijger and DutchCulture are organising a second series of Infected Cities, focusing on Europe: Paris, Athens, Warsaw and Madrid.

From 3-6 December, we organised together with IQMF three online talks about the following subjects: Homonationalism (with Dino Suhonic and David Vig - Amnesty Hungary), upcoming queer initiatives (with Aynouk Tan - initiator of Queer is not a manifesto, Alejandra Ortiz & Paula Chaves Bonilla - Papaya Kuir Collective and Timothy Aarons - Caribbean Queer Salon) and an artist talk (with Metin Akdemir - director and Simon(e) van Saarloos - writer/politician).

In September 2020, artists, activists, dreamers and thinkers again took centre stage in Amsterdam during the third instance of the Forum on European Culture, organised bij De Balie and DutchCulture. The Forum energetically contributed to the cultural construction of Europe, by investigating the shared challenges and experiences of its demos. The Forum opened up space to discuss the cultural significance of popular cultural practices such as football and cuisine. Spanning a wide range of topics and incorporating many different perspectives on Europe and its people.

COVID-19 has put international cultural cooperation as we know it on hold, the cultural sector is suffering and mobility is still very limited or even non-existent. Important cultural projects have been cancelled. This means we have to reinvent the way cultural and creative institutions and artists cooperate together. In September DutchCulture presented the results of the exploratory survey we have conducted on the future of international cultural cooperation, during our webinar Internationale Samenwerking: in Pauzestand of Stroomversnelling?
