European museums can now apply for the Luigi Micheletti Award and the DASA Award 2022. Deadline: 15 April 2022.
By Jacomine Hendrikse

Every year, the European Museum Academy organises various awards for museums. Applications are now open for the Luigi Micheletti Award and the DASA Award.

Luigi Micheletti Award for museums of contemporary history, industry and science

The Micheletti Award is organised by the EMA in co-operation with the Fondazione Luigi Micheletti, a research centre on contemporary history, and is specialised in collecting and spreading material and immaterial heritage of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. This award highlights best practices in museums focused on contemporary European history and its scientific, industrial and social heritage. All museums of 20th and 21st-century history (military, political or social), museums of science, technology or industry, science centres, ecomuseums, or interpretation centres on these subjects and emerging crucial issues of contemporary society may apply. This award is open to established museums as well as those created in the 21st century. There is a special interest in new museological ideas and/or practices and on the impact of a museum on the local, regional, national and international scene.

You can apply here. Deadline: 15 April 2022.

DASA Award for innovative education and communication

The DASA Award is supported by the DASA Museum in Dortmund. It concentrates on the quality of learning opportunities in museums. The basic criteria of this award are educational: the quality of the storyline, the learning opportunities, the creativity of the exhibition design and the programming of educational activities. Specific attention is also given to personal mediation, the interactive participation of the public and an effective mix of education and entertainment. This award is open to all kinds of museums and of any age.

You can apply here. Deadline: 15 April 2022.

The judges stated that the National Archives’ exhibitions and educational programmes are of a standard as high as any museum and that the National Archives of The Netherlands sets a very good example for other archival institutions.
