Live stream opening of 'The Other Story', Moroccan Modernism in CoBrA Museum

From 14 April to 18 September 2022, the CoBra Museum of Modern Art in Amstelveen will present the highly diverse exhibition The Other Story, Moroccan Modernism. You are cordially invited to the opening of the exhibition via our live stream, in which we will take you on a tour around the most interesting subjects and objects of the exhibition, together with guest speakers and moderator Myriam Sahraoui, DutchCulture's Morocco advisor. She will host the talks with the director of CoBrA Museum Stefan van Raay, writer and guest curator Abdelkader Benali, director of the Fondation Nationale des Musées and artist Mehdi Qotbi, director of the Mohammed VI Museum in Rabat Abdelaziz El Idrissi, ambassador international cultural cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dewi van de Weerd, artist Wafae Ahalouch and writer Khalid Mourigh. Next to that, you will get a taste of Moroccan cuisine and music.

Guest curator, writer and art lover Abdelkader Benali selected over 100 works, of which a major part is of the collection of the Museum Mohammed VI for modern and contemporary art, Rabat Morocco, supplemented with works by (contemporary) artists from Morocco and Europe. They tell the story of modern Moroccan art, from the independence of Morocco in 1956 to the present day. With works from artists such as Mohammed Melehi (1936), Jilali Gharbaoui (1930), Nour-Eddine Jarram (1956), Mahi Binebine (1959), Wafae Ahalouch (1978), Sarah Amrani (1994) and Fatima Zohra Serri (1995).

Besides art, there is also a varied programme of activities for visitors such as lectures, music and cooking workshops. Additionally, DutchCulture's Team NewGen will contribute throughout the exhibition period by connecting young and upcoming Dutch and Moroccan artists.

This exhibition is made in cooperation with the Museum Mohammed VI for modern and contemporary art in Rabat, the National Foundation of Museums of Morroco and DutchCulture.
