A Turkish-Dutch collaboration: International 2 Sides Short Film Festival

Between 1-3 September 2023, International 2 Sides Short Film Festival is ready to meet with filmmakers and cinema enthusiasts in Nijmegen.

Having its first edition organised in 2019, the International 2 Sides Short Film Festival (2YKFF) collaborates with a film initiative from a different part of the world every year to develop intercultural dialogue and intersect two sides.

After collaborating with Balkan Can Kino from Athens and Bi'Bak from Berlin respectively in 2019 and 2020, 2YKFF has built sustainable connections with the artistic scene in the Netherlands. DutchCulture helped the organization to expand its knowledge and network at the preliminary stages. After a partnership with Galerie de Jaloezie from Rotterdam in 2021, the festival is now coming to the Netherlands to partner with DZIGA Creative Film Platform from Nijmegen. As part of this collaboration, the festival will be meeting with filmmakers and cinema enthusiasts both in Nijmegen (1-3 September) and Izmir (18-22 October).

Supported by the Nijmegen Municipality Culture Fund and the Dutch Film Fund, the 2YKFF + DZIGA Nijmegen program will take place from 1-3n September, in partnership with LUX. You can see short film screenings in the categories of fiction, experimental, documentary, and animation. Furthermore, there will be workshops by director Sertaç Koyuncu and Associate Professor Zehra Cerrahoğlu; masterclasses, and networking events. Unique to this collaboration, 2 Sides Selection features Nijmegen-born director Sebastian Mulder's film Nature: All Rights Reserved, along with Izmir-based director Sertaç Koyuncu's film Suffocating with Manners. The program also includes a special screening of Reber Dosky’s latest film Daughters of the Sun, followed by a masterclass and discussion with the filmmaker.

Supported by the Kingdom of the Netherlands and Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, the festival’s Izmir program will take place between October 18-22. For more information and the detailed program, you can visit the festival's 2YKFF or follow them on Instagram.
