Open call: Current - Art in Public Space 2025, Stuttgart, Germany

A transdisciplinary festival held in Stuttgart, Germany, from 26 June to 27 July 2025. Deadline: 6 January 2025, 11.59 PM (CET)

Art and Urban Space will take place from 26 June to 27 July 2025, inviting artists and artist groups to propose new works for the urban space that explore the theme of ‘Air’ in all its social, political, ecological, and material dimensions.

CURRENT follows the streams and traces of air through the city. Air currents determine the course of the festival, serving as both guiding principle and narrative, aesthetic and artistic element for the interplay of movement and stagnation. Two artistic positions are invited via an open call to examine the significance of air in its urban, historical and social dimensions. To be submitted are new works that use and investigate air as a material form and explore its unique features.

The following formats and media are available to artists: one media board at Stuttgart’s Pragsattel intersection and a total of eight flags mounted on flagpoles in Stuttgart’s city center and in Degerloch. In addition, the artworks can be accompanied by other artistic formats such as performances, walks, readings or talks.

The deadline for application is 1 March 2025 (23:59).
