Dutch designers have acquired a special position in the international design world. Their work enjoys a reputation of being artistic and conceptual yet also practical and functional. The Rietveld Chair by Gerrit Rietveld, Sleeping Couch BR 02.7 by Martin Visser and Gert Dumbar’s blue and yellow design for the Dutch railway trains are all iconic designs which are recognised as Dutch design far beyond the borders of the Netherlands.
