Centres of expertise

Centres of expertise collect, produce and disseminate knowledge on specific topics and themes in the cultural field. They often operate in an international context. Some organisations can be visited for advice and information, by appointment or just by walking in. Others function primarily as an on line source of information.  

A selection of centres of expertise in the Netherlands:

Cultuurnetwerk Nederland is the national expertise center for arts and cultural education. Cultuurnetwerk informs, advises and supports people and organisations working in arts and cultural education.

Kunstenaars&Co is a Dutch non-profit organisation which stimulates and supports artists in raising their levels of professionalism and developing new areas of work.

BeroepKunstenaar.nl ('Profession: Artist') is the website on the business side of professions in the art and media sector

Boekmanstichting is a study centre for arts, culture and related policy. It stimulates research and the development of opinion on the production, distribution and take-up of the arts and on national and international policy on the arts and culture.

Digital Heritage Netherlands / DEN is the Dutch national ICT knowledge center for cultural heritage. DEN supports archives, museums and other heritage institutions to improve their digital strategies and services.

Lab for Culture works with and for artists, arts and culture organisations and networks, cultural professionals and audiences in the 50 countries of Europe, as well as providing a platform for cultural cooperation between Europe and the rest of the world.

Trans Artists is a knowledge centre on artist-in-residence opportunities, where you can find all about facts, use and value of international artist-in-residence programs as well as other opportunities for artists to stay and work elsewhere 'for art's sake'.

Nuffic supports internationalization in higher education, research and professional education in the Netherlands and abroad, and helps improve access to higher education worldwide.

FORUM is a knowledge institute and centre of expertise in the field of integration in the Netherlands.

The Meertens Instituut is a research institute of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (Koninklijke Nederlandse Akademie van Wetenschappen, KNAW) and studies the diversity in language and culture in the Netherlands. .
