Digital Sales

Digital music has come a long way but in terms of regulations, practice and fairness it still lags far behind world standards. Legal digital circulation is only 10-15% of all downloads. There are not enough regulations for piracy. The income of the digital downloads from legal websites is collected by a single organization called MÜYAP (Turkish Phonographic Industry Society - http://www.mu-yap.org/english/ -English website). They are then distributed to the copyright owners such as songwriters, composers, arrangers and of course the artists. The new dynamics of the sector as explained above also mean that the record labels get a share from the digital music. They put articles in the contracts that make sure they earn even from digital sales.
