4 Seasons by Samir Calixto on tour in the Netherlands

In 4 Seasons from the Dutch-Brazilian choreographer Samir Calixto, two top dancers stand their ground against the force of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. Spring, summer, winter, and fall pass in revue. They stand as a symbol for the turbulence in the history of humanity: birth, evolution, culmination, and decline. 4 Seasons is a powerful performance in which the baroque opulence of the composition stands in contrast to a collective sense of loneliness.

Choreographer Samir Calixto made a big impression in 2012 with Winterreise, for which a cycle of songs by Franz Schubert served as inspiration. For Calixto's newest piece 4 Seasons - for which he uses another highlight of the classical repertoire, he received a Swan-nomination Most Impressive Dance Production 2013.
