ARIFA & VOICES FROM THE EAST - Den Haag
Three female players of Eastern bowed instruments are the guests of  the  Amsterdam band Arifa, which successfully sheds new light on ancient   music from the Middle East and the Balkan. Chinese musician Meng  Xiaoxu  plays erhu, her fellow guest player Niusha Barimani excels at  kamanche,  from her homeland Iran, and Vanya Valkova brings the gadulka  from  Bulgaria. The three will sing and play their instruments solo as  well as  in an ensemble format.
 
Arifa has regularly performed  with  renowned guests, including singers Lilian Vieira, Izaline Calister  and  Karsu Dönmez. Since its foundation in 2010 the group has received   international praise for their Oriental music, which has been colored  by  Balkan music and jazz. The members of Arifa have Turkish, Greek,   Rumanian, German and Dutch roots.
Arifa & Voices from the East will perform in the Hague at the Nieuwe Regentes.
