Baraná Orchestra – Tribute to Behsat Üvez - Rotterdam
Baraná Orchestra – Tribute to Behsat Üvez
World Jazz ensemble Baraná was founded in 2002 by music wizards Behsat Üvez and Steven Kamperman. Together they planned, composed and performed highly acclaimed musical projects with a mix of elements from Turkish, European and jazz music, in different formations with musicians from different parts of the world.
Last year, at age 53, Behsat Üvez passed away after a brave battle against lung cancer. One of his biggest dreams, however, never came to the point of realization. He had always cherished the thought of having the music of Baraná performed by a really big professional band, an orchestra so to speak.
To honour his memory, they decided to realize his dream, and organize a Baraná Orchestra, consisting of the musicians he used to play with.
