After her American debut, The New York Times declared that the Brazilian Mimulus Cia de Dança was 'an elixir that should be sold in bottles'. The dancers of the group seem to be loaded with dynamite but are simultaneously incredibly sensual. Artistic leader Jomar Mesquita quotes from South American dance styles like the tango, samba, salsa, meringue and rhumba and enmeshes these with contemporary influences. For Dolores he was inspired by the iconic Spanish filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar. The spectator looks through his lens at a world of passion and longing and the thin line between obsession and pain.
On February 2nd there will be an aftertalk for the interested.

As soon as the rhythm of the samba sounds it conjures up obvious associations: the feathers, the glitter and the exuberant parade in Rio de Janeiro. But the story of samba is so much richer. ‘Movement architect’ Andrea Jabor, together with her traditional samba dancers, takes her audience to the true samba culture and reveals the secrets that lie behind the movements. And on the last night of the festival there will be a sizzling samba closing party.
