CulturaDigital.BR Festival Rio

Date(s)
-

More than an event for the exhibition of ideas and projects, the CulturaDigital.Br Festival is a space for the gathering of agents of digital culture from Brazil and all over the world — producers and activists who operate in the intersection between culture, politics, technology. From December 2-4th, MAM-RJ and Cine Odeon in Rio de Janeiro will be taken by keynote sessions, debates, meet-ups, workshops, exhibitions and performances. Our goal is to articulate a debate between some of the most expressive global specialists, networks and the public, concerning the national and global conjuncture of digital culture – the role of intellectual property in the digital age and the advances in free software development.

Admittance to the Festival is free and open to everyone. (read more>>>)

Participating Dutch Projects:

DREAMMACHINE

A project by Amsterdam based organisation map:m()b, aiming to encourage youth to use their cell phones as a tool to put their community on a digital map. Through this map they can ‘visit’ other places virtually, learn about each other’s communities, thus creating a bridge between different places in the world. The way in which the communities are placed on the map, however, is not the usual. Not only do they map ‘real’ stories, they also map their dreams, what they want to be in life or how they want the world to look like.

VURB

VURB is a European framework for policy and design research concerning urban computational systems. The VURB foundation, based in Amsterdam, provides direction and resources to a portfolio of projects investigating how our cultures might come to use networked digital resources to change the way we understand, build, and inhabit cities.
