Documentarist 2013
The official program of İstanbul's annual DOCUMENTARIST, the İstanbul Documentary Days film festival, has been unveiled, the organizers of the event announced in a written statement this week.
John Appel's "Wrong Time Wrong Place," which opened International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam last November, and Christina Koutsospyrou and Aran Hughes' "To the Wolf," screened at the 63rd edition of Berlin International Film Festival, are among the line up of the films.
American director Alan Berliner, who is known for his experimental documentaries like "Wide Awake" and "Nobody's Business," will be the festival's guest of honor, which will mark its sixth edition from June 1-6 with the screening of more than 90 documentaries from around the world. More than 20 documentaries by Turkish directors living in Turkey and abroad will also be presented in the festival's Turkey Panorama section.
Seventeen of those films will compete for the festival's Johan van der Keuken New Talent Award, which seeks to encourage young documentary filmmakers.
