DDuring 13th INTERNATIONAL INDEPENDENT FILM FESTIVAL the Dutch movie  Blue Wave will be show three times.A beautiful coming-of-age story set in provincial Turkey, The Blue Wave is haunted by the memory of a summer left behind.

If Zeynep Dadak and Merve Kayan’s first short On the Coast was the dreamy languor of a warm summer night, then their debut feature is haunted by the memory of a summer left behind. The Blue Wave starts where On the Coast ended: Summer is over; carpets are rolled for storage, people take a last dip in the sea. For Deniz and her family, the end of summer marks the return to the rhythms of middle-class life. Children go back to school, friends reunite, men return to their shops and women start their work on local events.

Nothing very dramatic will happen in The Blue Wave, but life will move subtly and deeply. Deniz and her friends will start thinking about a university, a career and the possibility of having a life of their own. Every decision, friend, crush and responsibility will start acquiring a new gravity, manifest themselves in subtle ways. Like the moments it gracefully captures, The Blue Wave is a fleeting movie that leaves a profound impression.
