Guangdong National Music Orchestra | Chinese New Year Concert 2016
To celebrate this year's Chinese New Year, a large delegation from the Guangdong National Music Orchestra will come to the Netherlands in February 2016 and give grand performances in Theatre Meervaart in Amsterdam (2 Feb) and Theater Diligentia in The Hague (3 Feb).
With a splendid stage setting, the orchestra plays traditional Chinese instruments like the pipa, erhu and suona. The harmony between East and West is reflected in the music with various themes originated from areas across Guangdong Province, south of China.
Supported by the Chinese Embassy in The Netherlands, the performances are organized by Amsterdam's Chinese association Fa Yin and Foundation New China Town of The Hague.
* The Guangdong National Music Orchestra (GNMO) is one of the strongest traditional Chinese music groups. In early 2002, this professional traditional music orchestra was the first to open and host “season” performances in main land China. In September 2013, the orchestra opened its twelfth season. GNMO has more than 1500 repertoires. It brings together many senior performers and a great deal of excellent younger musicians from nine conservatories of music in China including Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, which makes the structure balanced and keeps the group fresh.
