Installation ‘Down the Drain’ by Jerome Symons
Within the project ‘Ominous Games’ at Tahtakale Bathhouse, Jerome Symons will show his installation ‘Down the Drain’. Artists who are invited for this special projects will consider different connotations of the ‘game’. The installation of Jerome Symons is a continuation of the ‘First Turkish Euro’ project that the artist has started in 2010 with the production of 1000 ‘Turkish Euro’ coins with the Turkish State Mint (Darphane) in Istanbul. The installation in ‘Ominous Games’ will consist of 8 large photographs that will be hung from the octagonal ceiling of one of the rooms in the historical Tahtakale Hamam, thereby transforming the space in a vertical octagonal column. The photo’s will show the ‘Turkish Euro’ going ‘down the drain’. It is an artistic comment on the actual relation between Turkey and the EU.
