International visitor: Amir Sidharta (ID)
From Monday 18 to Friday 22 June 2018, curator Amir Sidharta is visiting the Netherlands to discuss Indonesian art during the Revolutionary War (1945-1949).
Mr Amir Sidharta is curator at the Museum Universitas Pelita Harapan in Tangerang and worked on many projects including the 2017 Presidential Collection exhibition in the National Gallery of Indonesia in Jakarta. His personal reserach on various Indonesian artists is directly linked to the knowledge on Indonesian art history and artworks in archives and collections in the Netherlands.
The visit is facilitated by DutchCulture in close cooperation with Stedelijk Museum and Rijksmuseum. Mr Sidharta is one of the guest speakers at the symposium 'The Production and Circulation of Indonesian Modern Art (1935-1950)' held on Thursday 21 June at Stedelijk Museum. This symposium is organized in the context of Stedelijk's new exhibition 'The Djaya Brothers: Revolusi in the Stedelijk', which is currently on display until 2 September. You can register for this symposium here.
Mr Sidharta will visit Stedelijk Museum, Museum of Ethnology in Leiden, Museum Bronbeek in Arnhem and the Rijksmuseum depots in Lelystad.
